How Can Heel Pain Be Treated Conservatively?

http://www.advancedfootankle.com Welcome to Advanced Foot and Ankle Specialists of Arizona. My name is Dr. Antonius Su. One of the most common problems we see in the practice is heel pain. Heel pain is known as heel spur syndrome or plantar fasciitis. This condition occurs in all ages. Many of you have aches and pains along the heel. A lot of people will try different things before they seek medical advice.

The pain can occur along the bottom of the heel, arch of the foot, and occasionally the ball of the foot. The pain may involve cramping of the leg muscle and, occasionally, tingling of the toes. The associative symptoms that come with this problem are ankle joint pain, shin splint, or knee pain. The main cause of heel pain varies between individuals. The causes can occur due to changes of activities and prolonged contraction of the ankle and knee joints that will cause secondary muscle tightness.

Treatment is usually conservative, nonsurgical, with 95% cure rate. The pain is usually resolved by good, supportive shoes, pronation control by means of orthotics, and also a stretching regimen. I hope this video has been informational for you. If you do have this condition, please contact us for a consultation.
